The Florida Bar has a "Board Certification" program where they offer to Florida Lawyers the right to become a specialist in their chosen area of practice. This program allows the public to make informed decisions when selecting a lawyer. One of the "Certification" areas of practice is Marital and Family Law. Mr. Sidweber has been "Board Certified" in Marital and Family Law since 1995 and re-certified thereafter.

Certification is the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar of an attorney's competency and experience in the areas of law approved for Certification by the Florida Bar. To be certified, the lawyer must have practiced law on a full time basis for at least 5 years and have spent 30% or more of his time practicing marital and family law during the 5 years immediately preceding application. The lawyer must have been involved in at least 25 contested marital and family law cases during the 5 years immediately preceding application. Finally, the lawyer must have received favorable confidential peer review, completed 50 or more hours of continuing legal education within the three years immediately preceding application and passed a rigorous written examination demonstrating sufficient knowledge, skill and proficiency in the field of marital and family law to justify the representation of special competence.
